A vasectomy reversal is a microsurgical procedure that reconnects the vas deferentia (the tubes that carry sperm from the testicles) that were blocked during your vasectomy. When successful, this allows sperm to re-enter the semen, making natural conception possible again.
At Premier Vasectomy, we perform vasovasostomy—a precise technique that reconnects the two cut ends of the vas deferentia. This is the most common type of reversal and is appropriate when sperm are present in the fluid at the time of surgery. If a more complex procedure such as a vasoepididymostomy is required, we will discuss referral options with you.
Vasovasostomy is an outpatient procedure performed under local anesthesia and typically takes ~4 hours to complete.
At Premier Vasectomy, we know that family planning decisions can change over time. If you’ve previously had a vasectomy but are now ready to grow your family, a vasectomy reversal can be a safe, effective solution. Our goal is to guide you through this process with compassion, medical expertise, and clear communication—so you feel informed and supported every step of the way.
You may be an excellent candidate for vasectomy reversal (vasovasostomy) if:
During your consultation, we’ll review your medical history, discuss your fertility goals, and perform a physical exam to ensure a vasectomy reversal is right for you.
Most patients return to light activity within 48 hours and can increase physical activity levels within one week. Full recovery and return to sexual activity are generally recommended after 4 weeks.
A semen analysis is typically performed around 4 weeks post-procedure to confirm the presence of sperm in the semen. Pregnancy rates vary depending on time since vasectomy, type of repair, and overall fertility factors including factors related to one's partner.
